The UV editor
Visualize how a texture wraps onto a primitive, and dial in tiling and offset per texture layer.
Open in the interactive manual →The interactive version has full-text search, a table of contents, and light/dark themes.
The UV Editor shows how a texture maps onto a surface and lets you adjust its tiling and offset. Open it from Windows ▸ UV Editor; it needs both a material (selected in Material Assets) and a geometry object selected.
What you see
A 512×512 canvas draws the mesh's UV triangles over a checkerboard, labeled U → and V ↑. Toggle the Grid and Checker, scroll to zoom, and middle-drag (or Alt+drag) to pan.
What you can adjust
Under Texture UV Transform:
- Tile U / Tile V — how many times the texture repeats across the surface.
- Offset U / Offset V — shift the texture along each axis.
If a material has several texture layers, an All layers tab adjusts them together, or edit each node individually (with Apply to all nodes to copy settings across). The Material Texture Slots list shows each channel and jumps you to its texture.
