Turning on AI generation

Generation creates brand-new models and materials from text — and spends real money on your own fal.ai key. Here is how to enable it safely.

Read this first: generation spends real money Unlike the rest of 3dCMS, AI generation costs actual dollars — charged to your own fal.ai key. It's off by default, opt-in, confirms each spend, and is capped per day. You're never charged silently. The regular Assistant (recoloring, arranging) is cents-scale on Anthropic and is a different thing.

AI generation lets the Assistant build assets that don't exist yet: a textured 3D model from a description, or a seamless PBR material. It runs through fal.ai.

Enabling it

  1. Tick the box

    In Settings ▸ AI Assistant, enable "Enable AI generation (fal.ai)". New fields appear.

  2. Add a fal.ai key

    Get one at fal.ai/dashboard/keys and paste it in. A fal key is a single string in key_id:key_secret form — the secret half is shown only once when you create it, so copy the whole thing. Like the Anthropic key, it lives only in your browser.

  3. Keep the confirm guard on

    "Confirm each generation with a button" is on by default. Leave it on and you'll approve every spend with a Generate/Skip prompt.

When generation is active, the Assistant header shows ⚡ Generation on. Now you can ask it to generate a model or generate a material.
