Grass, weeds & breeze
Two grass motions that root blades to the ground and ripple them in a wind — from cheap line-blades to lush tapered ribbons.

Grass is a special particle motion: instead of drifting, blades stay rooted to a patch of ground and bend in a breeze. Set the Motion control to one of two grass modes:
| Motion | What it is |
|---|---|
| Grass — lines | Cheap line blades that sway. Best for dense fields where each blade is small. |
| Grass — ribbons | Tapered, camera-facing mesh blades that curve. Fuller and more realistic up close (and heavier), and they catch scene lighting. |
The breeze
Both grass modes show a Breeze sub-section. Blades stay anchored; only their tips bend downwind:
- Strength — how far the tips lean (as a fraction of blade height).
- Speed — how fast the sway oscillates.
- Dir X / Dir Z — the horizontal direction the breeze blows.
Shaping the patch
Grass maps onto the familiar particle controls:
Blade height = Size
Patch size = Box shape
Density = Count
Ribbon grass adds Segments (curve smoothness), Base width / Tip width (the taper), and a Face camera toggle so blades never go edge-on.
Want a real gust?
The Breeze is a gentle ambient sway. Add a Wind force field and aim it through the grass for a stronger, directed gust — grass responds to Wind and Turbulence fields.
