Building Scenes
The Scene Tree
The hierarchy panel: select, rename, reparent, hide, search, and the per-row quick actions — everything that keeps a big scene navigable.
Open in the interactive manual →The interactive version has full-text search, a table of contents, and light/dark themes.
The Scene Tree (open it from Windows ▸ Scene Tree) is the bird's-eye view of everything in your scene, arranged as a hierarchy of parents and children. It's where a scene with a hundred objects stays manageable.
Getting around the tree
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Expand / collapse a group | Click the ▾/▸ triangle on the row. With a row focused, → expands and ← collapses; ↑/↓ move between rows. |
| Select | Click a row (Shift+click for multiple). |
| Rename | Double-click the row, or press F2, type, and press Enter. |
| Reparent | Select a node and pick a new parent (or World to un-nest it) from its Parent dropdown. Only groups can be parents. |
| Hide / show | Click the eye icon on a row, or press H on the selection. A "N hidden" chip with a Show all button appears whenever anything's hidden. |
| Search | Type in the "Search objects…" box to filter by name or type; results show a breadcrumb path. |
Per-row quick actions
A selected row sprouts Duplicate, Group, and Delete buttons, so you can reorganize without leaving the tree. Right-clicking a row opens the full context menu (move/rotate/scale, frame, hide, rename, center pivot, reset, delete, plus type-specific options).
No "lock" — just hide
The Scene Tree can hide and show objects, but there's no lock toggle to make a node un-clickable. If something keeps getting in your way, hide it (or group the things you're working on and isolate them).
